TV & Fireplace Using Water Vapor: Ideas for TV Walls & Media Walls
Combining a TV and a fireplace using water vapor creates a spectacular, comfortable space that blends seamlessly into the interior design. The fireplace can be installed below the TV, in a niche or console, or beside the screen when the room layout or ideal viewing height calls for a different configuration.
From a simple TV wall with fireplace to a complete media wall, Aquafire® offers exceptional design flexibility for both residential and commercial spaces: built-in furniture, storage, audiovisual equipment and even see-through installations, all made possible by cold flames with no combustion and no chimney or flue.
Fireplace Below or Beside the TV?
When combining a TV and a fireplace using water vapor, there are two main configurations: positioning the fire line below the TV or beside the screen. The choice depends on the desired look as well as the proportions of the space, TV height, viewing distance and the position of the people watching the screen.
A fireplace below the TV creates a particularly striking vertical composition and can be integrated into an enclosed niche, a niche open on one or both sides, a console built in front of the wall or, for certain projects, a see-through installation. Positioning the fireplace beside the TV, on the other hand, gives greater freedom to set the screen at the ideal viewing height. The best solution will therefore vary depending on the application, whether in a living room or bedroom, office, hotel lobby, reception area or clubhouse, where the TV may be viewed while seated or standing and from very different distances.
Fireplace Below the TV in a Niche
Installing a water vapor fireplace below the TV in a niche allows the fire line to become an integral part of the wall design. The niche can be enclosed on both sides for a more structured look, open on one side for a more asymmetrical composition, or open on both sides to create a greater sense of space and depth.
The length of the fireplace, the dimensions of the niche and its position in relation to the TV can all be used to play with proportions, creating anything from a compact arrangement to a long fire line beneath a large screen.
Fireplace Below the TV Integrated into a Console
Integrating the fireplace below the TV into a console or custom-built unit positioned in front of the wall is particularly well suited to interior renovation and remodeling projects. When the existing walls are already finished and creating a niche is either not possible or simply not desirable, a console makes it easy to install the TV and fireplace together in front of the existing wall.
The console can remain very minimalist or become a complete custom-built unit incorporating storage, audiovisual equipment or decorative features. The Aquafire® fire line can match the width of the TV or extend beyond it to create a more panoramic effect.
See-Through Fireplace with TV
A see-through water vapor fireplace offers a different approach: the fire line remains visible from both sides and can either separate two spaces or create a visual connection between them. It can, for example, be integrated between a living room and kitchen, in a suite, office, reception area or upscale hospitality setting.
The TV can then be integrated into one side of the structure, while the flames remain visible from both sides. This configuration creates a central architectural feature rather than a simple TV wall.
Fireplace Beside the TV
Positioning the fireplace beside the TV makes it possible to set the height of the screen completely independently from the fire line. This configuration is particularly useful when the TV needs to remain at a lower viewing height, when the viewing distance is shorter, or simply when the architecture of the space is better suited to a horizontal or asymmetrical composition.
The TV and fireplace can be aligned, offset or integrated into the same architectural composition. This flexibility makes the concept equally suitable for residential interiors, offices, hotels, reception areas and other commercial projects.
TV Wall, Media Wall or Multimedia Wall with Fireplace
A TV wall with fireplace can go far beyond simply combining a screen with a fire line. It can become a complete media wall or multimedia wall, designed as an architectural feature integrating the TV, water vapor fireplace, storage, lighting, audiovisual equipment and decorative elements.
The fireplace can be positioned below or beside the TV depending on the desired design. Custom-built for the space, this type of installation makes it possible to play with volumes, materials and fire line lengths to create a fully integrated composition.

View the ComparisonsWhy Combine a TV with a Water Vapor Fireplace?
A water vapor fireplace is particularly well suited to projects combining a fireplace and TV. Its cold flames made from water and light are created without combustion and require no chimney or flue, providing exceptional freedom to integrate the fire line into a TV wall, niche, console or custom-built unit.
The water vapor produced is extremely fine: it disperses and is directly absorbed by the surrounding air, without creating condensation on the TV or audiovisual equipment. Combined with cold flames that do not generate the heat of a traditional fire, this makes it possible to integrate the TV, electronics and fire line without the risk of damage caused by heat or condensation.
Cold Flames for Greater Design Freedom
Created from water and light, Aquafire® cold flames offer exceptional freedom when designing a fireplace and TV installation. The fire line can be positioned below or beside the screen and integrated naturally into the architecture of the project.
The different Aquafire® lengths make it possible to create anything from a compact installation to a long panoramic fire line. This flexibility is particularly valuable for architects, interior designers, fit-out specialists and media wall professionals looking to combine a TV, fireplace, custom furniture and audiovisual equipment within a single composition.

Designing the Perfect TV and Fireplace Combination
A successful installation depends on more than just the position of the fireplace. The TV height should first provide a comfortable viewing position based on whether users are seated or standing, as well as the distance from which the screen will be viewed. The fireplace can then be positioned below or beside the TV while maintaining the ideal screen height.
Proportions also play an essential role. The length of the fire line, the width of the screen, the dimensions of the niche or console and the surrounding volumes should create a balanced composition. A long Aquafire® fireplace can complement a large screen or extend well beyond its width to create a more architectural, panoramic effect.
Design the Installation as a Complete System
When designing a TV wall, media wall or custom-built unit, cables, electrical connections, audiovisual equipment, storage and access for maintenance should all be considered from the outset. Integrated lighting, decorative panels, stone, wood or other finishes can then complete the design while keeping all equipment easily accessible.
Whether for a new project or a renovation, planning these elements before construction makes the installation simpler, more attractive and easier to maintain. See also our complete Aquafire® water vapor fireplace installation guidelines.

TV and Ethanol Burner or Fireplace: A Different Installation
It is also possible to combine a TV and an ethanol burner or fireplace insert, but the design requirements differ from those of a water vapor fireplace. Ethanol combustion produces real hot flames and generates heat, so the position of the TV and electronic equipment must be carefully considered.
When the TV is installed above the fireplace, the design of the surrounding structure, safety clearances and heat circulation must protect the screen from excessive temperatures. A side-by-side configuration, with the fireplace beside the TV, can also be an appropriate solution depending on the project.
Water Vapor or Ethanol Burner Insert Below a TV?
For projects requiring maximum freedom to integrate a fireplace around a TV, Aquafire® cold flames made from water and light greatly simplify the design by eliminating the constraints associated with flame heat. An ethanol fireplace equipped with an automatic burner, on the other hand, provides real hot flames and requires an installation designed to accommodate the heat they generate.
The choice therefore depends on the project, the desired effect and the configuration of the space. In both cases, the installation must follow the technical recommendations for the selected fireplace model.
Frequently Asked Questions About TV and Fireplace Installations
Can a water vapor fireplace be installed below a TV?
Yes. Aquafire® cold flames made from water and light, with no combustion, make it possible to integrate a water vapor fireplace below a TV. It can be installed in a niche, console or custom-built unit, or integrated into a TV wall or media wall.
Can water vapor damage the TV?
No, under normal installation and operating conditions. The fine water vapor produced disperses into the space and is directly absorbed by the surrounding air, without forming condensation on the TV or audiovisual equipment.
What distance should be left between the fireplace and the TV?
There is no single height that works for every project. The TV position should first be determined according to the users’ eye level, whether they will be seated or standing, and the viewing distance. The fireplace can then be integrated below or beside the screen to create a comfortable and well-balanced composition.
Can an Aquafire® fireplace be added to an existing TV wall?
Yes. This is particularly useful for renovation projects or existing interiors. When creating a niche in the wall is either not possible or simply not desirable, a console or custom-built unit positioned in front of the existing wall makes it possible to integrate an Aquafire® fireplace below or beside the TV.
